Up for sale is the Japanese LaserDisc widescreen remaster of South Pacific (1958), Rodgers & Hammerstein's beloved Oscar-winning musical directed by Joshua Logan. Originally shot in 70mm Todd-AO, the film follows Navy nurse Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque as they fall in love on a South Pacific island during World War II. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Sound Recording, the film features some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre history. This is catalog number PILF-2023, a 3-sided CLV set manufactured by Pioneer LDC for Fox Video Japan, presented in widescreen Scope format (1×2.35) with THX certification and LD-G digital audio. The OBI strip notes this as the widescreen new remaster (ワイドスクリーン・ニューマスター) edition, with musical chapters included. The full gatefold contains detailed Japanese liner notes, production history, and complete cast and crew credits.

This copy is in very good to excellent condition. The colorful cover is clean and vibrant. The OBI strip is present, intact, and in very good condition. The inner gatefold is clean throughout. Discs appear clean.
