About the Film:

Leaving Las Vegas was written and directed by Mike Figgis, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by John O'Brien, and stars Nicolas Cage as a suicidal alcoholic who travels to Las Vegas to drink himself to death, where he forms an unlikely bond with a sex worker played by Elisabeth Shue. Cage won the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 68th Academy Awards (noted prominently on the OBI), and Shue received a Best Actress nomination; the film also won numerous critics' circle awards and Independent Spirit Awards. Julian Sands co-stars in a supporting role.
