About the Film:

El Mariachi was written, directed, produced, photographed, and edited by Robert Rodriguez and famously shot in just two weeks on a budget of approximately $7,000. Starring Carlos Gallardo as a wandering mariachi musician mistaken for a dangerous hitman, the film won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival and launched Rodriguez's career, leading to a Columbia Pictures distribution deal and the subsequent Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. The bonus short Bedhead (1991) is a rare early Rodriguez student film, exclusive to this Japanese pressing.
